So I take it to a few shows, and get some input from judges. My wife, who started out hating my hobby, became my strongest supporter. She was happy going to the competitions and seeing the goings-on.
The 1st thing to change was the deck. I was blown away by the Pioneer premier DEX-P1r, so I got one. In some of the worst pics I have ever taken, you can see the P1r (Left) and the cover for the deck (Right). The cover was made out of the factory stereo.
Since nobody was allowed to smoke in my car, I created a bass knob out of the cig lighter.
The front stage didn't change component wise, but I made new kicks and a new grill for the horns.
The fuse panel was redone. Here you can see the new panel, with plexi over the caps.
Little windows were added to a false floor, to show where the wiring was run. The window closer to the rear seat location is for a linear actuator that engages the E-brake. The floor was a good attention getter at the shows.
The trunk as it was senn from day-to-day. There was no real hint of a system, until the panels started comming down.
The infamous JL trio in the well. Only the trim changed
This was when this install REALLY shined. Pulling the trim board down, exposed two large pieces of white plexy. This was home to the logos of the equipment used in the install.
The upper piece of plexy was back-lit with blue neon, like the fuse panel. With the hit of a button, the bottom piece would motorize down, exposing the hidden amprack. While it starts opening, the all of the blue neon changes to red. Two PPI amps power the system. A PC-450 runs the front stage, and a PC-2350 powered the subs.
