It all started when I would get in trouble as a kid. I would goto my room, and listen to music until I felt better. Sometimes a few minutes at a time, sometimes HOURS!
When I got my 1st car, I tried to add a booster to the stereo, and blew it all up! So I decided to learn how to put them in right. And soon, I was putting all kinds of stuff in my cars. The little hobby turned into an obsession. The obsession turned into a profession. Now I have been an installer, or manager, or salesman, or specialist, or technician, for over 15 years.
Take my advice....Be VERY careful if you decide to make your hobby, your career. It can take all of the fun out of your play.

--I was hired as an installer-in-training. They let me go, because I sucked as an installer.
--Drove by this place one day, applied for a job, the next. I was laid off when the business started drying up.
--Found this place opening up. They had a sign that said they did installs. I askeds around and got hired. Technically it was my own shop, I rentd a bay from them. That was fun while it lasted!
--This was a body shop, that was gonna start doing alarm installs. I signed on, and busted tires, and did body work for a few months. I left when I heard about an open position down the road.
--Best Tire Service. I applied here under the promise for a healthy future. I busted tires a few weeks, but ended up being the alarm tech. I called a freind to get a price for some new amp he was carrying. He offered me a job, so I quit.
--Me and the owner had done business before. When i called him for some prices on stereo equipment, he offered me a job. I am NOT a total idiot, i took the job. It turned into my 1st management opportunity.
--An alternative, to what I thought was a bad work environment. I was out of there in a few months.
--This was a solid shop to go to work at. But it didn't take long before I was on my way out of there to. I left when an offer came from down the raod at the rival shop.
--a decent alternative to Sounds and Signals at that moment. I was offered a position at another stereo shop, so I left.
--I know I am probably spelling it wrong. This was a neat opportunity. It helped me get exposure with some industry-insiders. I left when I heard of another opportunity was open in texas City.
--Sometimes I miss working here. The owner is a great guy. And was one of the best people I have ever worked for. If not for troubles with another installer, I would probably still be there. But an interesting opportunity was on the horizon...
--I became friends with this owner while I was at International Audio. I went to work for him, because I thought I was have the opportunity to take over ownership of the store. Things didn't turn out quite that way, so I left.
--I returned to World Wides other location. Spent some time getting pushed around a little. Felt like my 1st installer job at Don Don's...so I left. I was recruited by a guy opening a shop.
--Sometimes dreams do come true! This was my dream spot. I was on a crew of custom installers. The owner was a car stereo competitor, like me. He and I made a LOT of shows while I was there. I would definately STILL be there if the company didn't close its doors. Break ins had cost the owner thousands, so he shut down and moved on. I had little choice but to find something new.
-- I am notorious for taking positions out of necessity. If the drive and LONG hours weren't so stressful, I would have stayed there. But opportunity came knocking. I was being recruited again.
--A DB Factory-like shop. It was a new start. The comapny had plenty of potiental, but was slow at the moment, so I took a HUGE opportunity and left.
--We go to South Padre Island for a huge car stereo competition. I find a new company on the up and comming. I befriend the National Sales Manager. He offers me a job as the companies Product Specialist. I jumped at it without much thought. OK, without ANY thought.
I got laid off when the company went under.
--When things went South with Dragster, I was out of my element. We started a company I thought had a chance. We offered help in producing, car stereo competitions. We even offered services that could help new competitors become serious continders in the sound-off arena. The money was sparse, so I went back to work.
--I was recruited by Mobile One. My old store manager wanted me to come back. He promised me a management position in three months. In two and a half, I was relocated. I have worked at every store in the Houston region, managing 4 of them along the way.
